February 2011 - Restaurant Amusé

2009 Drakesbrook Cabernet Franc, Peel Region WA – Plums, cherries and raspberries, crushed red rose petals and sweet tobacco with a charry mineral overtone. Palate is full and directed (focussed) a little hot (alc%) yet has good concentration, bounds of oak spice with a savoury boisterous tannin. The finish is slightly firm.

February 2011 - Fine Wine Club

2009 Drakesbrook Cabernet Franc (16.8). Plump and fleshy, this has vibrant sweet fruit. Mulberry, red berries, blackcurrant and plum all coat the tongue. The finish is soft yet there are persistent fine tannins to keep it fresh. Good current drinking and better than a quaff.

December 2010 - Fine Wine Club

2009 Drakesbrook Shiraz (17). Fragrant and lifted fruit develops on the nose. This is fresh and juicy. The palate is flooded with ripe fruit. There is a mass of dark fruits and a touch of forest floor. The oak/tannins are a touch grippy now, though the length is very good…a lovely fruit driven wine that will be good drinking over the next 5 or so years.
